EXODUS
	CHAPTER 26

Tabernacle to be built with ten curtains and with boards—Vail to separate the holy place from the most holy place—Ark of testimony (with the mercy seat) to be put in the most holy place.

1 MOREOVER thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, [ Water and sky. The heavens above and the sea below. The waters of chaos being overcome, confined and controlled in the creation. Water also washes away the dirt that we have on us. ] and purple, [ Purple is known as a ‘royal' color because it was the hardest dye to extract. It came from sea snails, so only royalty could afford it. ] and scarlet: [ The blood of animals and of Christ who were offerred as sacrifices. ] with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them.
[ Cherubim woven into the fabric of the cloth covering the temple. Cherubim are really angels suggesting that can you pass the angels who stand as sentinels for entrence into the presence of God. Remember that God put angels Cherubim on the east side of the Garden and told them to protect it in every direction, but they were posted on the east side. ]

2 The length of one curtain shall be eight and twenty cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits: and every one of the curtains shall have one measure.

3 The five curtains shall be coupled together one to another; and other five curtains shall be coupled one to another.

4 And thou shalt make loops of blue upon the edge of the one curtain from the selvedge in the coupling; and likewise shalt thou make in the uttermost edge of another curtain, in the coupling of the second.

5 Fifty loops shalt thou make in the one curtain, and fifty loops shalt thou make in the edge of the curtain that is in the coupling of the second; that the loops may take hold one of another.

6 And thou shalt make fifty taches of gold, and couple the curtains together with the taches: and it shall be one tabernacle.

7 ¶ And thou shalt make curtains of goats’ hair [ Goats were a sacrificial animal. So we have one layer with goat hair. ] to be a covering upon the tabernacle: eleven curtains shalt thou make.

8 The length of one curtain shall be thirty cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits: and the eleven curtains shall be all of one measure.

9 And thou shalt couple five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves, and shalt double the sixth curtain in the forefront of the tabernacle.

10 And thou shalt make fifty loops on the edge of the one curtain that is outmost in the coupling, and fifty loops in the edge of the curtain which coupleth the second.

11 And thou shalt make fifty taches of brass, and put the taches into the loops, and couple the tent together, that it may be one.

12 And the remnant that remaineth of the curtains of the tent, the half curtain that remaineth, shall hang over the backside of the tabernacle.

13 And a cubit on the one side, and a cubit on the other side of that which remaineth in the length of the curtains of the tent, it shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side, to cover it.

14 And thou shalt make a covering for the tent of rams’ skins [ Sacrificial animal. The coverings of the tent are symbolic time after time of the richness of the covering of the atonement, and the sacrifice of Christ and the love that was show to us by that sacrifice. Remember that before Adam and Eve were driven from the garden God made a covering of skins for them as well. Ahava is the word for skin and it is more or less homonym with the word [Hebrew 00:28:42]. One starts with an [Hebrew 00:28:43], that's skin, and [Hebrew 00:28:47] starts with an aleph is light. And the biblical authors love doing that with the Hebrew, playing with that Hebrew language. And this idea that he's covering them with garments of light. ] dyed red, [ Make its symbolism obvious here. Red for blood. ] and a covering above of badgers’ skins.
[ some translations suggest seal skins. The Tabernacle building then had four coverings each testified of how the LORD protects and saves His people. The topmost layer was made of badger skin or a type of sea animal. It was waterproof and protected the tabernacle from the elements. From the outside, this skin would have made the tabernacle look very plain, just like a dark colored tent, protecting all of the beautiful colors that are found within. The colors are hidden from the world, there is only one way to know them and that is to enter in. Protect what is holy that is inside, designed to protect the inside from what ever is happening outside. Remember that when Moses was commanded by the Lord to come upon the mountain he was commanded to tell the people to not even come upon the mountain, he did not want them to peak, there is one proper way to learn of the covenant path, and that is to be a part of it. The Egyptians tried to fien it. ]

16 Ten cubits shall be the length of a board, and a cubit and a half shall be the breadth of one board.

17 Two tenons shall there be in one board, set in order one against another: thus shalt thou make for all the boards of the tabernacle.

19 And thou shalt make forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under another board for his two tenons.

21 And their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.

24 And they shall be coupled together beneath, and they shall be coupled together above the head of it unto one ring: thus shall it be for them both; they shall be for the two corners.

25 And they shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.

26 ¶ And thou shalt make bars of shittim wood; five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle,

27 And five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the side of the tabernacle, for the two sides westward.

29 And thou shalt overlay the boards with gold, and make their rings of gold for places for the bars: and thou shalt overlay the bars with gold.

30 And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which was shewed thee in the mount.

31 ¶ And thou shalt make a vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: [ Extreme detail. ] with cherubims shall it be made:
[ Symbolic likenesses of the cherubim that were placed at the east gate of path that lead into the Garden(God's presence), keeping Adam from returning until the proper time. A primary mission of the cherubim, together with the flaming sword, was to protect the tree of life so that man, in his unworthy state, would not partake of the fruit of the tree (Alma 42:2-3). These cherubim were later embroidered into the veil of the tabernacle and carved into the walls, doors, and panels of the temple of Solomon (see 1 Kings 6:29-35; 7:29, 36).26 In addition, two large cherubim were placed on either side of the throne of God in the Holy of Holies (see 1 Kings 6:23-28; Exodus 25:18-22; 1 Samuel 4:4; 2 Samuel 6:2). The cherubim were identical in size and possessed great wings that extended from one wall of the Holy of Holies to the other.
Each cherub was made of olive wood, which was overlaid with gold. Ezekiel also mentions cherubim in his description of Jerusalem's future temple (see 41:18-25). ]

32 And thou shalt hang it upon four pillars of shittim wood overlaid with gold: their hooks shall be of gold, upon the four sockets of silver.

33 ¶ And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: [ So the Ark of the covenant or testimonies is to be placed inside of the Holy of Holies. ] and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy. [ A vail is to stand between the holy place and the Holy of Holies. So we have a vail to enter the Holy PLace, and then another vail to enter the Holy of Holies. Telestial - the outer court, Terrestrial - the Holy PLace, Celestial - the Holy of Holies. ]

34 And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place.
[ Or the Holy of Holies. ]

35 And thou shalt set the table without the vail, and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side.
[ So here we have cardinal directions. So from before we know that the table of shewbread was to be on the right side, here we are told that the right side shall be to the north. So we can conclude that the opening of the tabernacle is to the east, or it is facing east. To make my way to the presence of God then I will be walking west. Remember that Cain settled East of Eden, that Adam and Eve left the garden going east, So to return to the tree of life we will need to go west. And the cherubim will be there still guarding the tree of life. So the temple then is designed to reverse the fall. ]

36 And thou shalt make an hanging for the door of the tent, [ So it will ook the same. Remember that God said he would make a pattern. He is trying to teach them consistency. The pattern, things will ook the same going forward, that is a way to know that you are still on the covenant path, that things look and feel familiar, consistent, even though you are learning more, getting closer to God. ] of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework.
