JOSEPH SMITH TRANSLATION
GENESIS 15: 9-12
Abraham saw in vision the son of God and knew of the resurrection. (compare Genesis 15: 1-6)
9 And Abram said, Lord God, [ µyhla hwhy Yehovah Elohim, which we translate the LORD GOD. Hebrew - Yahweh ( or Jehovah which means "to become" or "to exist") translated as Lord; Elohim translated as God ("the Gods") which together the words mean "He will cause Gods to be". ] , how wilt thou give me this land for an everlasting inheritance?
10 And the Lord said, Though thou wast dead, yet am I not able to give it thee?
[ is there anything that is ipossible for God to do? ]
11 And if thou shalt die, yet thou shalt possess it, [there is an important principle that some blessings that we hope to receive here may not come about until the next life, but that does not matter. So you may receive some blessings as a resurrected being when the eart becomes our celestial home D&C 130:9-11 ] for the day cometh, that the son of Man [ Jesus Christ ] shall live; but how can he live if he be not dead? he must first be quickened.
[ resurrected ]
