THE REVELATION
OF ST JOHN THE DIVINE
CHAPTER 17
John is shown that Babylon the great, the mother of harlots and abominations, has become established throughout the earth.
1 AND there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore [ So John is taken back in time to when wormwood arrives in America. So in essence we are going back about 6 years prior to Rev 16 and the final battle. ] that sitteth upon many waters: [ The people of the earth. ] :
2 With whom the kings of the earth [ Remember that the kings represent ( 7 kings with their territories and governments ) and the ten powerful men who were kings without a kingdom. See verse Rev 17:9 and 12 for definition. ] have committed fornication, [ Been unfaithful to the trust. From verse 2 and 3 here we understand the relationship of the great whore ( represented as a woman who is in control in vs 3 ) has brought together the seven heads and ten horns.
What does the committing fornication with the whore represent? When a man commits fornication with a whore he is abandoning the trust of his wife and kids, those who look to him to protect them, and he usually does it in secret, it is complete infidelity as there is no love involved it is only for pleasure. So the kings of the earth have committed treason in that they have established another allegiance with someone or to a secret society. ] , and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
3 so he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman [ Not the woman, a woman she is the one who is in control as she is sitting on top, she is the one with the reins. ] sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads [ The seven kings and their territories. ] and ten horns.
[ The ten powerful men who do not have kingdoms. Now we see a woman (not the woman), sitting on the beast. She is in control as she has the reins, in addition she provides commonality with the seven heads and ten horns or kings (territories and their governments) and the ten powerful men. She is lifted up by the beast, she is what keeps them united. Who or what then is this woman that drives and controls the governments of the earth? ]
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple [ Purple is known as a ‘royal' color because it was the hardest dye to extract. It came from sea snails, so only royalty could afford it.] and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
[ John is left to wonder at the scope of this organization and how it has tentacles everywhere. That it generates wealth from so many back door, corrupt deceptions of politicians, teachers, leaders, businessmen the list goes on. It seems to be so large in scope that John is in awe that a organization was able to gain this size without really being seen by men. It was under the radar so to speak. SHe has power to take down or build up countries, she controls the supply of money, manupilates the markets, brings nations to war, all while stealing the resources of those who do not see. ]
7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery [ Mystery in Greek is "Musterion" which means: The counsels of God once hidden but now revealed, in the gospel or some fact thereof; the Christian revelation generally; particular truths or details of the Christian revelation. ] of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
[ Or the different iterations of the beast. They are as follows: 1) The watchers 2) the society at the Tower of Babel 3) Jaradites 4) Nephites 5) the Jewish state at the time of Christ. each of these were societies that had or were eventually destroyed because of their secret combinations. Group 6 was the Nicoliatan's who infiltrated the church in the early days of Rome. The 7th group represents the beast upon which this woman is now riding. ]
9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, [ IN particular here is the iteration of the beast that existed in John's day, referring to the seven mountains of Rome. Territories and their governments. Another possible interruption is that her that the woman is identified as the Great and abominable church is identified by her location. She sits on top of seven mountains. Tradition suggests that Rome got her start when the seven hilltop communities of Aventine Hill, Capitoline Hill, Esquiline Hill, Palatine Hill, Quirinal Hill and Viminal Hill all joined together for some religious games. These seven communities would all join together under the Goddess Roma and become the beginning of the Roman Empire. Now just because the whore begins with Roma which is identified here it does not mean that Rome is the original or only great and abominable church. They did however represent the hallmark qualities associated with the great and abominable church in that they persecuted, imprisioned, tortured and killed a great many Christians. ] , on which the woman [ The church. ] sitteth.
10 And there are seven kings: [ So we now get the idea that the beast has 7 kings, and represents 7 territories or governments. So we might say then that the beast represents the governments of the world. ] five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; [ We are now taught that there are 10 kings, or powerful people that aren’t in government. So the beast is made up of the seven kings and their territories along with 10 other men who have a great amount of power. In essence the first three eagle heads break away from the entities that have sponsored them to this point and join with a larger more powerful organization - that has 10 kings. Maybe they were already a part of this group, but I think the idea is that they turn on those whom they have relied on in the US seeking greater power in the world. After all these three eagle heads at this point have their eyes on world domination not just the US. ] but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
[ The fourth kingdom. See Dan 7:7-8. ]
13 These [ Referring to the 7 heads and 10 horns or The seven kings and their territories, and the 10 powerful men without a kingdom. Three of these horns are the first three eagles from Ezra's eagle. ] have one mind, [ They all agree on the same things - which is world domination. These leaders and powerful people all partake in the same abominable secret society. They share the same ideology and goals, how hard is that to get all of these powerful people to agree on something. That about that! They combine, collaborate and share their power to build up a world governing/controlling body, symbolized as the beast. They are running the show. See Dan 7:24. ] and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
[ The fourth Kingdom. ]
[ Is this not what is happening with global warming, and wokism? A certain group decides what the law is and how you need to behave and what you need to do. This goes from governments to corporations down to the individual. Babylon will continue to attack the basic values of morality and then Christianity until she reaches her goal. She will do it with gender-fluid doctrines that undermine the family, agenda-driven education that distorts real truth, and domestic terrorism. The polarism will continue until it is finally overthrown. When wormwood comes in order to gain power to himself he will pull back the curtains so to speak and expose Babylon to the world. Doing so will completely destroy Babylon, and bring those who built her up down and deliver them to justice. Wormwood will do so to destroy his competition, and gain followers as a good guy; however, he will be doing the will of God in the process. See Dan 11:21-22. ]
14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: [ Which is just another way of saying that he is the king of all kings and the priest of all priests or the great high priest. What does this phrase really mean? In Rev 17:14 Christ is given a list of new names one of the is "King of kings(plural)" It’s because he promises in Revelation to make those who overcome in this world to be kings/queens just like he is, and as a result he then is "the King of Kings". ] and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
15 And he [ The angel delivering the message. ] saith unto me, The waters [ Are defined here as "are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues". So the waters are now defined for us from Johns vision. They are the people of the earth. So when we see the term waters we can understand that John is speaking of the people of the earth. ] which thou sawest, where the whore [ The whore of babylon. So the whore of babylon is in all nations and peoples of the earth. the whore of Babylon is maybe not one specific organization but rather all of those individuals and organizations who are exchanging the trust given them by the people and then are whores because they are not faithful to the people who jave put their trust in them but do things to get gain and power for themselves. some may even be manipulated by social activities to do things that sound like they are good but maybe are not (Black Lives Matter for instance who gained from all of that activity? No one but a few, but there was a lot of commotion stirred up over the idea.). The thing that I think that we need to remember is that this whore of Babylon is used by the anti-Christ for a time and then is destroyed by the anti-Christ when it no longer suits his purpose. ] sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
[ This is the definition given here for "the waters". ]
16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, [ So these 10 horns and the beast which they report to for their power will destroy the whore of babylon. As par for the coarse they want all of the power and riches for themselves. It will be this destruction of the whore that will be the sign that the Lord is about to restore the House of Israel (the restoration of the entire house / the return of the ten tribes). ] and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
